Storm debris pickup begins today

All vegetative debris should be placed near the curb for pick up. Do not park a car or in any way place the debris behind or near something that will block access to it. Inaccessible debris will not be picked up.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – City of Bowling Green storm debris pick up began today, June 10. If you see our crews out working, please slow down so they can do their jobs safely.

While crews are working their way through the City's 10 leaf pickup zones, some zones may take only a few hours while others may take several days. For that reason, the City has not set a zone-by-zone schedule for pick up. Unlike leaf pickup when crews know exactly how much time it will take to work through a zone, the debris pattern for this storm is worse in some places than it is in others. That's why there is no set zone-specific timeline.

City crews will get through all zones.

All vegetative debris should be placed near the curb for pick up. Do not park a car or in any way place the debris behind or near something that will block access to it. Inaccessible debris will not be picked up.

City crews will make one pass through all zones. Debris that has not been placed out for pickup when City crews come through will have to be taken away by a private hauler at the owner's expense.

Do not place debris in the street or in drainage ditches. Also, do not place chipped debris at the road. The city will not pick up construction debris, trash, broken fences or bulk waste items. Only recent vegetative debris will be collected.

If you pay a contractor to cut your trees and limbs, the contractor is responsible for removing that debris such as large limbs, tree trunks, root balls and other vegetation.

The City will only collect debris from the city rights of way.
