McConnell, Guthrie visit disaster recovery center

Summary: U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell was joined by U.S. Representative Brett Guthrie, Bowling Green City Manager Jeff Meisel, Warren County Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon, Warren County Emergency Management Director Ronnie Pearson and many other local leaders today at the disaster recovery center.

BGFD to accept fire department applications beginning Feb. 11

Summary: The Bowling Green Fire Department is hiring. Applications will be accepted from Feb. 11 through March 18. Applicants are required to produce a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certification card by April 10.

Feb. 7 deadline set for debris placement

Summary: Owners of storm-affected property within the Bowling Green city limits who need debris removal have until Feb. 7 to place that debris on the right of way.

Anyone staying in temporary shelter is urged to register with Red Cross by Friday

Summary: It is important that anyone who is staying in temporary shelter - which may include hotels, a family or friend’s home, AirBNB or anything that is not their permanent residence - register with the Red Cross by Friday, Jan. 14.

FEMA deadline approaching for storm-affected residents

Summary: Anyone affected by the Dec. 11 tornadoes must register with FEMA on or before Feb. 11. You can do this in person at the old Sears store inside Greenwood Mall from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can also register online and on the phone.
Fairview Cemetery closed due to weather conditions

Summary: Fairview Cemetery gates will be closed to the public until all ice, snow and other debris causing unsafe conditions in the cemetery can be cleaned from the roads.

Winter Storm Impacts: BGStrong Resource Center Will Not Open Today, 01/06/2022

Summary: Due to the timing of the incoming Winter Storm and expected snowfalls, the BGStrong Disaster Resource Center co-located with FEMA at the Greenwood Mall will not open to the public today, 01/06/2022. Limited number of workers will remain working in ways that do not require the public to travel.

City preps for winter weather

Bus service available for storm-affected residents

Staging area for volunteers to relocate Monday

Summary: The staging area for tornado volunteers is moving from the WKU Center for Research & Development (old Bowling Green Mall) to the disaster relief center at the former Sears location in Greenwood Mall effective Monday, Jan. 3. The current staging area and hours will remain in effect until Thursday.
City Property Tax Deadline Extended to March

Summary: The City's Board of Commissioners, with the support of the Bowling Green Independent School District, last night approved an emergency ordinance amending the property tax deadline to provide a 90 day extension. Tax deadline now will be March 31, 2022.

Bowling Green Parks and Recreation partners with Red Cross for storm relief

Sidewalk construction continues on west side of town

Stay downtown for holiday fun Friday night

Summary: For the first time ever during Downtown Lights Up, a holiday trolley will be making a continuous loop downtown between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. stopping at Park Row and State Street, Sixth Avenue and College Street and on Seventh Avenue between the downtown parking garage and Soky Ice Rink.

New Dropbox Located at City Hall Annex
