BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - At the close of the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society conference in Corbin, the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation’s Adaptive Sports South Central Kentucky Program received the Class IV Outstanding Program Award and Overall Program of the Year award in the state.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - This morning at the close of the Kentucky Recreation and Parks Society conference in Corbin, the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation’s Adaptive Sports South Central Kentucky Program received the Class IV Outstanding Program Award and Overall Program of the Year award in the state.
Adaptive Sports of South Central Kentucky is the region's premier athletic program in competitive and recreational Adapted Sports.
Special Populations Coordinator Cameron Levis oversees the program for the city.
“It’s most certainly an award that represents the work and dedication of our department and our incredible staff, like Madison Duncan. I couldn’t do it all without her,” Levis said.
The program provides opportunities for those with eligible disabilities to find their own success in the world of sports, while also educating the greater South Central Kentucky area on the various ways those with disabilities pursue recreation, leisure and sport.
The program currently offers wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, and goalball.
