Work to begin on West End Greenways project

This project will feature greenways on Veterans Memorial from Kentucky Street to Gordon Avenue and on Gordon Avenue from Veterans Memorial to Double Springs Road.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Work on the West End Greenways project, which incorporates a new greenway, multi-use path that will improve the connection from the West End/Delafield area to the downtown area by Roland Bland Park, begins Wednesday, July 24.

This project will feature greenways on Veterans Memorial from Kentucky Street to Gordon Avenue and on Gordon Avenue from Veterans Memorial to Double Springs Road. It includes refuge islands and upgraded pedestrian signals to the intersection of Veterans Memorial and Gordon Avenue to provide safer intersection cross for pedestrians.

The completion date for the work is expected in September.

The City does not anticipate any permanent road closures but there will be traffic control devices in place for possible lane shifts when necessary to keep traffic flowing around the work areas as well as potentially utilizing flaggers and signage when necessary. Motorists should be patient and use caution when in this area.
