As floodwaters recede, homeowners are responsible for debris removal, with only licensed contractors and specific waste services authorized to collect and dispose of construction debris.
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - As floodwaters recede and residents begin the clean-up process, here’s what you need to know about debris pick-up. As of April 8, a federal disaster has not yet been declared. This means homeowners are responsible for removing construction debris.
Within city limits, Scott Waste will continue to pick up regular household waste containers. However, debris piles left at the edge of properties will not be collected.
Licensed contractors hired to remove damaged materials are required to haul the debris away. Homeowners who choose to handle this themselves must transport the debris to a legal dump site or hire a dumpster service to place the debris for removal.
