Feb 11, 2026
In the latest episode of TalkBGKY, the City of Bowling Green honors Black History Month with a powerful and personal conversation featuring three Black female officers from the Bowling Green Police Department. These trailblazers share their journeys of service, leadership, and resilience. Listeners will hear from the first Black female officer ever hired by the department, who now serves as a Sergeant in the Criminal Investigation Division, as well as another Sergeant who made history as the first Black woman motorcycle officer and the first Black woman who is member of the department’s Critical Response Team. Together, they reflect on breaking barriers, earning respect, and what it means to serve the community they call home. Throughout the episode, the officers offer heartfelt advice to women considering a career in law enforcement: be yourself, stay real, and never forget where you came from. Their message to other Black women is clear and encouraging, there is a place for you here.
