Give Effectively
Change the way you give. Panhandling is not safe.
Like many others across the country, our community has experienced an uptick in panhandling, which can be problematic for public safety reasons but is also recognized by the Supreme Court as the exercise of free speech. We would like to encourage people to direct their generosity towards individuals whom they know personally and to organizations who are working strategically every day to address real issues in our community, including poverty.
Because many panhandlers represent themselves to be hungry and/or homeless, we would like to highlight these three local organizations who provide direct services to people experiencing homelessness:
Hotel INC. 1005 Boatlanding Rd 270-782-1263
Room In The Inn PO Box 1111 270-599-6401
Salvation Army 400 W. Main Ave 270-843-3485
