Citizen Police Academy
The Bowling Green Police Citizens Police Academy is a program designed to build awareness into how police officers perform their duties and how the Department serves the citizens of Bowling Green. All classes are FREE.
When is the Citizens Police Academy?
The CPA is held two times a year: Spring and Fall. The Spring Session starts on the first Thursday in March. The Fall Session starts the first Tuesday in September. The classes meet weekly from 6:00 p.m. til 9:00 p.m. for ten weeks. The eleventh week is a graduation and Chief's Banquet.
Where does the CPA meet?
Most classes are conducted at the Police Department Community Room, located at 911 Kentucky Street. Some off-site visits are made to other relevant locations (jail tour, Justice Center, police firing range, e.g.).
Who may attend the Citizens Police Academy?
- Any interested citizen who resides or works in Bowling Green or Warren County is encouraged to attend. Citizens involved in youth activities, neighborhood watch or neighborhood associations are very important to the Citizens Police Academy.
- Citizens 18 years of age or older.
- Citizens with no prior felony convictions.
Who is qualified to attend?
Must be either a Bowling Green/Warren County resident, business owner, or employed in the City of Bowling Green. Must pass a criminal history background check.
Who will be Instructing the CPA?
Bowling Green Police Department other Criminal Justice personnel.
Course Description
Instruction is comprehensive, covering a different area of policing each week. certified officers, supervisors, and civilian instructors with particular expertise will conduct each topic. Classes are limited to 24 citizen attendees.
