Boards and Commissions
The City of Bowling Green's Boards and Commissions are formed to assist the City Commission on important policy decisions that impact the community. These groups conduct short and long term planning, research, and discussions of specific issues which are essential to the continued growth and prosperity of our City. Some boards are designed to be the policy-making authority over a particular entity; for others, their mission is to make recommendations and advisory opinions to the City Council.Citizen involvement in the community is vital for our success. The City encourages anyone who is a resident of the City to consider submitting a resume for appointment to one of Bowling Green’s 31 boards and commissions. Appointments are made upon recommendation by the Mayor, and approval of the City Commission. Interested applicants should mail their resume and cover letter to "Boards and Commissions" PO Box 430, Bowling Green, Kentucky, 42102-0430.
Most boards/commissions meet monthly, although some meet quarterly, or even on an "as-needed" basis. Time commitments vary for each board, and preparation for meetings and special meetings sometimes requires an additional time commitment. Meeting times given below are generally accurate. However, times are occasionally changed, for various reasons. If you wish to attend a specific meeting, you may wish to check with the contact person on that board to verify the time and location.
