Barren River Regional Senior Games
Presented By: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation & BRADD/Area Agency on Aging
June 4-6 and 9, 2008
Senior Programs:
The Special Populations program provides various activities for Senior Citizens.
We are always looking for new program ideas. If you are a Senior Citizen
and would like a listing of our programs or if you have some program ideas,
please give us a call. We would love to talk with you.
The following programs are specifically designed to meet the needs of individuals with a mental and/or physical challenge:
Area 5 Special Olympics:
Area 5 Special Olympics is a twenty-county region surrounding Bowling Green.
Area 5 Special Olympics is dedicated to providing the following quality
events: Area 5 Bowling Tournament, Special Olympics Kentucky Regional Softball
Tournament, Special Olympics Kentucky Regional Basketball Tournament, Area
5 Power lifting Tournament, and Area 5 Spring Games. Any person who wishes
to volunteer or with a mental challenge that wishes to participate in Special
Olympics should contact Special Populations for more information. Volunteers are

Bowling Green Adult Athletic
Club:
The B.G.A.A.C. is for any person with a mental challenge. The club competes
and trains for the following Special Olympic Events: Area 5 Bowling, State
Bowling, Unified Bowling, Area 5 Spring Games, State Summer Games, State
Power lifting Tournament, State Softball Tournament, and State Basketball/Cheerleading
Competition. A monthly newsletter is printed to inform athletes and volunteers
about upcoming events. Social activities include: picnics, dances, field
trips, movies, etc. Persons with a mental challenge or persons that have
an interest in volunteering should contact Special Populations for more information.
Volunteers Needed:
The Special Populations program is always in need of volunteers. Volunteer
opportunities exist through our many programs and special events. If you
or your group would like to make a difference in our community, then please
contact Special Populations.
Special Olympics :
Bowling Green Special Olympics is proud to announce their female basketball team will
represent Team USA in the 2007 World Games! All donations are tax deductible.

MAREA 5 SPECIAL OLYMPICS SPRING GAMES
A competitive day of track and field events is this day’s main attraction. Don’t miss all the excitement.*Pre-registration is required for all athletes.

LONG-TERM CARE FACILITY BINGO BATTLE 2008
This event brings numerous residents together for an enjoyable social outing. All long-term care facilities located around the Barren River area are invited to participate.*Volunteers needed.

TIME: Registration begins at 9:00am; Competition begins at 10:00am with lunch served at noon.
FEE: $2-$4 per person, (depending on number coming from each facility) and one $1-$2 value prize per person.

B.G.A.A.C. SOFTBALLSIGN-UPS

SENIOR BOWLING TOURNAMENT
All area long-term care facilities are invited to compete for the most strikes. Trophies awarded for: Highest score, HighestFacility Average, etc.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS KY SUMMER GAMES
This state event features Track and Field, Power lifting, and Soccer. Athletes that compete in Area 5 competitions are qualified.*Pre-registration required. Volunteers needed.

LOCATION: Eastern Kentucky University
SENIOR FUN DAY
All area long-term care facilities are invited to compete in this fun-filled day of games and activities. Lunch will be served.DATE: June 26, 2008

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BOWLING PRACTICE

CAMP HAPPY DAYS 2008 “ON THE ROAD AGAIN”
A free summer camp for any child with mental and/or physical challenges. The camp will feature games, arts and crafts, field trips, special events, and many more fun activities.*Pre-registration is required. No late registration will be accepted. Deadline for registration is May 18, 2008 or until all slots are filled.

Session II: July 7th-24th

EASTER EGG HUNT 2008
Easter tattoos, face painting, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and of course Easter Races! It’s all here and much more. Be sure you don’t miss out.*Volunteers needed.

DOG BONE HUNT 2008
We don’t want to leave the dogs out! Bring your dog out to hunt for some bones and other exciting activities. All dogs must be on a leash. Only one dog per person please.*Proof of vaccinations required.

3rd Annual City/County wide Homerun Derby to help benefit Bowling Green/Warren County Special Olympics.*Homerun contest is on a points system. We ask for you to provide your own pitcher or one will be provided . ASA bats and balls will be provided. Great prizes to be given away. Registration on site.
