The primary goal of the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department's Athletic Staff is to provide a variety of wholesome leisure time opportunities through competitive and recreational (non-competitive) activities for a diversified clientele. A variety of volunteer youth and adult sports organizations assist in providing low-cost, high quality activities on city-maintained athletic facilities. Year-round programming for youth activities focus on participation, sportsmanship, and fun. Adult sports participation varies according to level of ability and experience.

American Legion


Being conducted by SOKY BearCats Program. For boys 13-18 years of age. Games site: Home games at Hobson Grove Ed Haynes Legion Field. For more information contact: Mo Jackson at 202-7368.

NYSCA Coaches Certification


Mandatory for individuals head coaching in any city co-sponsored youth program. Head coaches in any BGAA program will have their fee paid for; any other program or assistant coaches must pay a $20 fee to be certified. The process includes viewing tape(s), signing a Code of Ethics Pledge, and taking an exam; in cooperation with the NYSCA Program. .
