Summary: The Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued a massive recall on over 40 million Kidde brand fire extinguishers. Kidde is a very popular brand of fire safety products.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green was recently awarded the Voice of the People Award from the National Research Center, Inc. (NRC) for the category of Transformation in Built Environment. This award is only given to top performing jurisdictions that best listen and act for the benefit their communities.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will hold an online auction at www.govdeals.com beginning October 30th, 2017 and closing on November 6th, 2017. Auction items include vehicles, exercise equipment, bicycles, office furniture and equipment, tires, lawn mowers, audio and video equipment, and more.

Summary: BG Coalition of Active Neighborhoods (BGCAN) will host their Fall Rally on Monday, Oct. 30 at Neighborhood & Community Services, 707 E. Main Avenue, with dinner at 6:00 and the program starting at 6:30 p.m.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will have 8 damaged or sick trees removed from the right of way on Indian Hills Drive beginning Monday, October 23, 2017. The removal is being completed by Bushels and Blooms and is expected to take approximately 2 days to complete weather permitting.

Summary: The Southern Kentucky Youth Basketball League Board of Directors met last night, October 19th, to discuss this season of youth basketball. A decision was made that, effective immediately, all 6th graders will be eligible to participate in this season.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green was recently awarded the KLC Enterprise Cities Award for the Academy for New Americans Program. This innovative program provides New Americans the tools necessary to successfully navigate City services and community resources.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will hold a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, October 17 at 10:30 a.m. for the construction of a new facility at the Lovers Lane Soccer Complex located at 385 Lovers Lane.

Summary: Special Populations & F.O. Moxley will host a Trunk or Treat fundraiser and Monster Bash Dance for our local Special Olympics program on October 28th from 5-8 p.m. Trunk or treating and the dance are both free events!

Summary: The restrooms at Roland Bland Park will be closed for renovations beginning Monday, October 16, 2017. We anticipate the renovations to take one week to complete. Portable restrooms will be available for use during this time.

Summary: F.O. Moxley will host its annual Halloween Pumpkin Palooza at Circus Square Park on October 20th from 5:30-8:00 p.m. This event is FREE for all ages. A fantastic fall family event showcasing a jack-o-lantern stroll after sunset. Decorated jack-o-lanterns will be on display for the public to view.

Summary: Bowling Green Parks and Recreation will be taking Youth Basketball registrations on October 11th and 12th from 3:30-6 p.m. and October 14th from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at 225 E. Third Ave.

Summary: F.O. Moxley will begin accepting Youth Dodgeball League registrations on Monday, October 9th at 10 a.m. Duck, dip, dive, and dodge your way to a great time. This program is a supervised event that includes fun, meeting friends, and a great way for improving your health and fitness.

Summary: One lane of Covington Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Euclid Avenue to Lehman Avenue from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily starting Monday, September 25th, 2017 through Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 for drainage repairs by the Operations Division of the Public Works Department.

Summary: The final paving for the Smallhouse Road widening project is scheduled to begin on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 6 p.m. The turn lanes from Campbell Lane onto Smallhouse Road will be closed and temporary lane closures along Smallhouse Road can be expected.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green will hold a Groundbreaking on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. for four new Soccer Fields that will be located at Preston Miller Park at 2303 Tomblinson Way.

Summary: The City of Bowling Green Fountain Square Park improvements are underway and Phase I is nearing completion. This first phase included the initial fountain work and the section of the park nearest State Street.

Summary: Construction on the Preston Miller Soccer Complex has begun. Construction will affect the parking lots, soccer fields, and disc golf course until further notice.
